Finding the Invisible: How Test Engineers Can Uncover IoT Vulnerabilities
Presented by Scott Register - Keysight

IoT is booming—but so are security threats, and testing teams are the front line of defense. In this talk, we’ll explore how vulnerabilities in firmware, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, CAN bus, and even Android debug ports are exposing billions of IoT devices to attack. We’ll dive into real-world breach examples, examine the latest compliance mandates (like NIST IR 8425 and ETSI EN 303 645), and show how automated testing tools like Keysight’s IoT Security Assessment can detect both known and unknown threats—including hidden flaws in legacy firmware. You’ll see how protocol fuzzing, firmware SBOM analysis, and REST APIs enable fast, deep, and repeatable security validation without needing a full cybersecurity team. If you're testing connected devices, this session will help you find and fix vulnerabilities before attackers do.

The Big Refactor – Driving Innovation and Insight at Badger Meter
Presented by Kenny Kreitzer & Paul Holzrichter - Badger Meter

In this session, Badger Meter shares its journey of modernizing its test software infrastructure to meet the evolving demands of electronic metering technologies. With over a century of innovation in smart water solutions, the company faced challenges transitioning from mechanical to electronic meter testing. This transformation required a shift from legacy, custom LabVIEW applications to a scalable, maintainable architecture leveraging NI TestStand and DQMH frameworks.  Simultaneously, the adoption of WATS transformed how test data is accessed, analyzed, and shared across departments and global sites. With nearly 100 testers feeding into a centralized platform, Badger Meter now benefits from real-time insights, improved collaboration with component manufacturers, and a cultural shift toward proactive problem-solving.

Attendees will gain practical insights into the technical, organizational, and cultural changes that enabled Badger Meter to turn test data into a strategic asset—driving smarter decisions, faster issue resolution, and measurable improvements in production outcomes.
